The SI Sandy Relief FundThe SI Sandy Relief Fund was started by Staten Islanders for Staten Islanders to help families affected by SuperStorm Sandy get back on their feet.
We are sympathizing Staten Islanders, most of whom graduated from Port Richmond high school with families of our own looking to utilize our connections to get money and living supplies to fellow Staten Island families that were affected by SuperStorm Sandy. We have witnessed first hand the devastation in New Dorp and Midland Beach and the outpouring of help from our fellow neighbors in the form of food, clothing and cleanup efforts which has been amazing. And yet people need to pick up the pieces and start all over again and find shelter and basic living requirements for themselves and their families. Thats where we come in. How it Works - We find families that need help getting back on their feet and seek donors and sponsors to contribute money and essential living items (housing, vehicles, couches, toasters, toiletries, school supplies, etc.). We assign someone to manage each family to ensure that they receive all of the things that they need to get back on their feet. How can you help? You can click on the “Families" tab above where you can browse an Amazon wishlist that we have set up for certain families to help them obtain some much needed items that they lost in the storm OR you can make a cash contribution by clicking the “Donate” button to make a general contribution to our relief fund. Rather than giving our families cash, we direct all proceeds toward helping our families find new housing or obtain the basic necessities they lost in the storm.
We do not take one dollar for ourselves. We donate our heart, time, and contacts to helping families pick up the pieces and start all over again. You can contact us at info@sandyfundsi.org if you have any questions at all. |
